Looking at an excursion
It is clean inside. But looks like it belonged to a fire department (maybe a chief's rig, too clean to be used by the peons). I found some of the hidden wiring when i looked and test drove it. No 3rd row seat in it which doesn't matter to me since I'll put dog crates back there.
What does the FTE trust think? Worth it? I rarely see them for sale up here. It is at a dealer
It is an XLS special service version, but with adjustable pedals and rear a/c. It has carpet vs the vinyl floor, and 3rd row seatbelts.
Need to check the ficm voltage and ect/eot temp diff on a 15 min highway drive once fully warmed up.
It probably spent lots of time idling, but might have been garage kept!
That interior is identical to mine, same color, HVAC controls, no rear vent windows, no overhead display and cloth interior except I have the third seat. Mine is an '05 XLT but I have the good engine.

But with this one, if you wanted to, you could just drop a third row seat in place and lock it down. Not that you want to.
I bought my 05 Limited Ex from a dealer in NW Washington late last year. Strangely enough, it had been purchased at the Dallas Auto auction, hauled up to NW Wa where I found it, bought it and brought it back to Texas. It had 94k miles on the V10 4x4 Limited. I'm so glad we bought this, with the impending move back to Colorado, it is a nice road rig. Loads up all the dogs, all the 'stuff' that we carry when we go places (something, something about the kitchen sink) so it has been a great addition.
And a diesel with low mileage does cost more than the V10 that we bought. But that's kinda the trade off.
I really enjoy ours as does my wife. Hopefully you will have the same luck we did. GOOD LUCK in your EXcellent adventure...
Edit - I forgot one thing. IF this is a med/large city fire chief vehicle, it was properly maintained it's whole life. Most SSV's if they go to the head of a department gets pretty well cared for. Just something to think about. You MIGHT even be able to get a lot of maintenance info about it from Carfax or other reporting agency.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I just don't know if I would pay that much anymore knowing what 6.0's can do to you! They can be a ticking time bomb but if it was well cared for which is looks like it was then it could be a gold mine. Defiantly find a way to hook it up to a scanner, Torque APP with Bluetooth adapter, scan gauge or a shop that has a scanner for these trucks is what you need. I would prefer the one in the truck while driving so you can monitor vitals on the fly.
Not sure how far you are from Lake Stevens, Wa but I would lend a hand checking those vitals out for you with my scanner if needed. I would be free on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning you could tell the dealer you want to drive it and come down this way!!!!!

We made the deal and pick it up tomorrow. I'd still like to meet up at some point though and see what it is doing in real time. The wife liked it so we jumped on it
Well congrats and I hope it works out. Get yourself a thread going on the 6.0 section to keep us updated on what you do with it.
Any time you want to come by this way let me know. I would highly encourage you go online order a Bluetooth obd adapter and if you have Android phone download Torque App Pro. Cost very little bit it will pay for itself in the long run so that you can monitor those vitals.
If you need help getting it up and running let us know but don't go without it. Having it to check real live data could save you hundreds of not thousands in repairs.
