95 150 5.0 4x4 with 4r70w. I'm have check engine light for dreaded EGR solenoid. 558. I replaced my PCM a few months ago (bse). I tested from PCM pin to the solenoid and get brown and pink wire and have continuity and .5 ohms. I also tested the solenoid and get 32-33 ohms at the terminals. When truck is on run position I get 12 volts to the red wire hot. I also checked the EGR position sensor and it reads good 3800 ohms and 4.8 volts on the plug. I also applied vacuum to the EGR at idle and it works as truck almost stalled. Any help is appreciated. I'm at a loss here.
Did this error code appear after replacing the PCM?
Your tests indicate a good signal path for the EVR. The only step left is verifying there is not a short to ground or power on the leads to the EVR. Key Off, disconnect the EVR. Use a DVM referenced to ground then measure the power lead and ground lead of the EVR connector. Should measure 10K ohms or higher. If that is good the service manual indicates: Replace the PCM.
I replaced it as because of the age. Previous owner removed the check engine light bulb. It's weird because I did exhaust work and waiting on extension wire for O2 and no code for that even though it's disconnected. So evr is the solenoid? In plug test the resistance on both sides? I hopethis PCM isn't bad.
EVR = EGR Valve Regulator. Yes it is a solenoid that is modulated On/Off by the PCM. Correct, reference a DVM black lead to the battery negative or known good ground. Place the Red DVM lead on one of the EVR connector pins. The resistance should measure 10K ohms or greater. Repeat for the other EVR connector lead.
I also tested the solenoid buy jumping it straight to battery. It works so it's harness or PCM. I get 12 volts on hot leg. The brn/pink from connector to ECU unit has continuity and only .5 ohms so it's good. I'm lost lol thanks for helping me.
You are probably getting the lower ohms reading on the power feed due to other circuits still connected. I would start to cast a leery eye at the PCM since everything appears to check out okay. On the other hand I do not want to spend your money and/or send you down a bunny hole. Tough call for sure.
Thank you. Yea it seems the PCM doesn't want to ground it. this is a reman so who knows if they did anything as it's under warranty may be going back. What really gets me is no code for O2 sensor unplugged.

So you replaced the computer because of age and not because you traced a fault back to bad ECM? Yeah, the computer should see that the oxygen sensor is not sending a signal.
Jumped the connector to solenoid and it works. Throws check engine for EGR valve stuck open. Everything I tested points to the ECU. The o2 sensor is a big red flag. I'm going to re solder my old one. Glad I didn't send the core in. My old one the fuel pump wouldn't turn off this new one fixed that but caused this lol
