Removed the dash on my 2000 F150 when I replaced the heater core. Have a couple of issues that I assume are related. I’ve taken it back apart and cleaned and reconnected wiring twice, so don’t think that’s it.
Symptoms: Auto headlights not functional(but manual works fine), cruise control not functional, speedometer remains at constant 33ish mph when truck is on regardless of speed(or even whether it’s in gear). Tach and odometer appear to be functioning properly. No problem lights/codes.
None of these are critical to me, but would be nice if they worked right. Any suggestions? As noted, seems not to be the connections behind the instrument cluster, which was, of course, my first assumption.
The problems do not have an obvious connection (common fuse, module etc.). The cruise control uses the VSS (speed) signal from the PCM. It also uses the speed servo control module. The autolamps are controlled by the autolamp module.
Of course, check the fuses for the two modules. Then pick a problem and see if you can find wiring or a connector you had to disturb when replacing the heater core. Ground connections are important so look at the wiring for the grounds.
Check all the connectors near the left kick panel
Check the ones on the right side again
Under the hood, check all the connectors by the processor and verify the wires coming from the starter relay are correct
