Manual glow plug button

Hey, I’ve got a 86 f250 6.9. I have a fully stock glow plug system except for 7.3 bullet plugs (what’s the technical term/letters and numbers?) and bullet connectors. I would like to install a manual glow plug button but I’m not sure how. Would it bypass the controller so I don’t have to worry about it failing?

thanks for all the info in advance.

glow plugs and connectors from accuratediesel.com. I am also running there injectors.

your 6.9 used ZD-1 glow plugs, 7.3 uses ZD-9 plugs, superceeded to ZD-29 plugs to beat counterfeiters..
they are different voltage.

What is the difference in voltage? 6v for zd1 12v for zd29? Could I remove the resistor or something? I was thinking about temporarily putting in a manual button then soon putting in a 7.3 controller. Thoughts?

I have heard of the counterfeit problem… seems kinda petty. I don’t see much money in doing that either. Kinda a jerk move.

the difference is counterfeit plugs are like autolites. burn out after one or two uses.
i dont remember which one is 6 volt and which one is 12 volt. i THINK the ZD-1 is 6 volt.

Ok, I guess I will learn if they are counterfeit or not. I don’t think they are though. I believe you are rite. ZD-1 will last for ten seconds of glow and ZD-29 will last for 20 seconds. Or so they say…..
