I would love to hear an update too. And, also would like to hear whether this is actually common or not.
I do know that since the covid debacle these auto makers have been looking for any way they can find to cut costs, and different vendors using different materials is one way they've done it. The design of some parts hasn't changed at all but the material used to make them has.
I asked my dealer said he hasn't seen anything like it here in N. Utah anyway- I don't know him personally so there's that, but you may be on to something-

Wow...injection molding gears for a 400 HP truck differential, unbelievable! I know they are taking every penny they can out of these trucks but this is insane! They really are just trying to get them past the 60,000 mile warranty.
I have no updates yet guys, but will post as soon as I hear something from the dealer.
They've had it for 3 weeks now, and haven't even gotten it into a service bay.
I'm leaving voicemails and getting nothing back.
They gave me a spanking new pos bronco sport for a loaner, which I'm terrified of scratching or getting dirty. It's completely unusable for work. (I'm in construction). Even with load blankets lining the cargo area, it's damn near worthless to me.

It's the diff cases that are the problem. They're designed to hold the torque going forward, but reversing just blows them apart. I mean, there are forced induction builds out there dumping 1,000 hp into them on the drag strip (without issue). But backing up on slippery surfaces seems to be their downfall.
Many examples out there in internet land, but I don't want to link to another forum here. Not sure what the rules on that are.
FWIW, I've seen a FORD Rep on the site telling people to send him information about their vehicle. IF it was ME, (I'm not very patient), I'd go back through the pages, find his information and send a message. If nothing else I'd feel better.
There use to be a fund that would give you money under "customer satisfaction", for having to wait as long as you have. I'd be a mad individual if I was making payments on a truck that literally fell apart, that I couldn't drive, even though they gave you a loaner vehicle !!!!!!!! Just my $0.02
