Shock busted weld

Picked my truck up from the tint shop and the front passenger shock bottom mount weld is broken and the shock is hanging. WTF? Is this a common issue? Easy fix?

I've welded eyes on shocks, but was after I cut it off to change some aspect. You have to keep the shock cool to prevent it 'splodiin' though

Never had a shock eye break off a shock though.

Never had a shock eye break off a shock though.

it sheared off where it mounts to the axel I guess. Not real sure. I saw it hanging this afternoon. I’ll get under the truck and investigate more tomorrow.

I would double check the shock part number to make sure it's correct for the truck.

Oh, I see .... it's a F250. Shock mount tab just broke off. Easy fix with welding. Lots of years, flexing, & that front tire over on the road edge, the roughest part of the road, heavy axle and wheel and tire bounce to fight .... etc. Not unusual.

The driver side is mounted differently than the passenger side. Is that normal? The driver side looks like a beefier mount.

A nicer shock that does what shocks do ... but better ... is gonna not make life easier on that mount. It will need to be welded back, and I'd reinforce it too. That's a MONROE32286 Monro-Matic Plus,More Information for MONROE 32286 (rockauto.com)

Drivers side 1979 F250 dana 44 shock mount

Passanger side 1979 F250 dana 44 shock mount. Disregard the brake hose connections, those are not stock.

It looks like the passenger lower shock mount is a thin piece of metal and if I get it welded back on it will be a weak point. Do they sell replacements online? Bigger beefier ones? If so I can't find them, maybe I am searching for the wrong keyword? Thanks for the help!
