Fuel issues PLEASE HELP

1979 F-350 with the gas tank in the cab, truck does not have mechanical fuel pump and cannot go that route. I installed an electric inline Edelbrock pump that is 4-7 psi but it won't pull fuel from the tank as it's not a puller. My question is what kind of pump do I need to pull fuel? I've looked at Lift pumps but they either say diesel or nothing at all. I've googled till I'm blue in the face. Could I put a lift pump inline, on a switch, before my electric pump? Then use the lift pump to pull then shut it off when my other low pressure pump is primed? Is that possible? If not what setup do y'all use? Is a diesel lift pump the same as a gas lift pump? Help please I don't have anybody to ask lol. Thank y'all

A diesel lift pump won’t be rated for gasoline I’m sure.

Where do you have the electric pump located? Any chance you can move it back towards the tank?

It's right under the tank now, the steel line goes up through the floor, up the side of the tank and in through the top. I just can't get it up the line to the pump

Have you gotten it running since you initially installed the electric pump? I’m trying to determine if you just need an initial prime or if this is an issue you’re having every time you park the truck.

I'm needing the initial prime. Sorry for the missed info, hasn't ran since installation.

I’d wrap an air compressor nozzle with a rag and blow air in through the filler neck. If you can get a good enough seal with the rag, fuel should be forced into that metal line to the pump and it should start moving.

If that works, just make sure you never run out of gas haha.
