I am well aware of a 4.3/262. The fan clutches have the same part numbers from a '96 4.3/5.0/5.7 per Rockauto using a Hayden unit. Something is off on your setup. Either way, the GMT800 fans I have here, '01 LM7 and '02 LQ9, do not fit the Hayden fan clutch for the 4.9 I purchased for my 01/92 F150. Bore spacing is off significantly. The clutch I purchased DID fit my old five blade steel fan and did fit the newly purchased seven blade. The GM clutch DID fit the water pump on the 4.9
The SBC was available in trucks for a long while still past '96. Late '99 1500 received the 5.3, LM7 (yes owned one). My current GMT800s are an 11/00 build (2001) and 05/01 (2001).

well, Ill go and take the damn fan off my 1996 c1500 and settle this lol
LQ9 setup was OG from the factory, blade not moved. Too close to rad, MIGHT fit single core rad. No idea. WE DO KNOW the GM ones fit, we need to find thread pitch and count...then can compare.

The probelm lies in the clutch is extended out to take up space on the v8 where the i6 needs the space to fit, and the bolt pattern for the fans being different, one could make a plate to adapt it i suppose but the thread I found that pic on was very confident that a 96 vortec 4.3 5.7 fan fit the 4.9 fan clutch, which, may be true if the fan clutch bolt pattern changed in 94 for the 4.9 when the fan clutch thread changed (because you have a pre 94 4.9, and i have a post 94, we know its not apples to apples.)
I didnt think you were being a ***** lol, I was just saying we need answers!!!
Stock GMT 800 fan on my 6.0 heres the same fan up against the bolt pattern for the 1996 4.9 FAN CLUTCH, (thats an autozone special for 96 4.9 with AC)
Still have not gotten my vortec fan off, its been raining for days
Going to be installing a Champion Radiator and shroud and I’m looking at the relay kit which has a temperature sensor that plugs into the intake manifold. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it bolt on directly to that open port where the upper radiator hose connects?
1994 Ford F-150 5.0
If the sensor fits, there in the thermostat housing, you can use that hole
Better to tee into where the temp sender is now on the manifold
Do go the electric fan route but know that a 4 core radiatoer will be the best option for heavy traffic with the air on
I drive my 94 van over the west desert a lot with the air on, and it never goes above half way on my chicken sheet factory gauge
With my old factory HD radiator, I was overheating in NV when the temp was 114 outside and we were out driving in it (back from beautiful OR)
Now in the winter in UT I barely get enough heat, but I do get heat and it iis a trade off I can live with
Have fun with it
I installed a big honkin electric fan on mine out of a Ford Edge during my experimental progress
