not sure if this should be in towing or wiring, but here goes. ive got a 2000 f-250 that has a 6 way round plug and a camper that has a 7 way flat pin plug. i am looking at buying a 6 to 7 adapter plug so that i can pull the camper. they have two different ones though, one that has the brake as the center pin and on that has it as an auxillary pin. any ideas on which i would need or how to check to see which pin my brake is hooked up to? thanks in advance!
i checked the pins in the plug with a test light and i'm about 99% sure ive got the right one, just want to get a second opinion before i order the plug.
I am glad you checked it with a test light. If you get somebody to push on the brake, and the center pin lights the test light, I think you can be sure you have the brake-center pin type. You might be able to even make the test light go dim or brighter by turning the brake trim adjustment on the brake controller.
when we tested it the "s" pin was the one that lit up for the brake. its the pin straight up and over one to the right from the center pin. i checked a few wiring diagrams on the net and they showed that location and the center pin as being the only two possibilities for the brake. so i ordered the one for the auxillary pin. if it doesnt work ill just send it back and order the other one lol.
