It is full with the engine off? Air bubbles in the fluid?
What do you mean by “it’s only slightly turning to the left but else no more?”

You just put in a junkyard gear box and the system is full? I'd wager it needs to be burped. Put the front end up in the air (tires off ground), take the PS cap off and run the steering wheel lock-to-lock about twenty times or so.

Did you make sure the steering gear was centered before installing the pitman arm?

So you made sure the box was centered before installing the steering linkage? Your wheels were also straight?

2 turns of play? Junkyard gear? Go get another one!
Ouch
The roll pin in the control valve (inside the steering gear) is sheared
Tear into it
You are smart enough to overhaul a steering gear

20 turns lock to lock with the front wheels elevated is how you bleed the air out of a PS system
Go slow
