Ok,I never regapped the iridium plugs....left them at .040 from factory....should I have regapped to factory spec of .054?....Engine stumbles at idle .No codes....should I regap or trash iridium and go back to Motorcraft AGSF22WM-4h
What engine? I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to regap iridiums. Use them out of the box. Box likely says to not touch the gap.
Do you trust the seller? There are lots of fake plugs out there. Best to buy from an established local parts store or online from the plug manufacturer. There’s some debate about rockauto.com.
It's 2005 e250 5.4 2v...I put the iridium in at the preset gap of.040...I was tempted to open them to .054 per Ford specs. Now it stumbles and doesn't want to idle very well.Im going to put Motorcraft plugs like what was in originally. AGSF22WM GAPPED AT.054...Check out the pic of what came out! 176,000 miles ORIGINAL PLUGS!!!...OMG!!
Only fault code was a missfire in cyl 5...po305...water from bad intake invading cyl 5....that's why I replaced intake ,cops,plugs...saw that the plug for 5 was the worst. But ALL the plugs were waaaayy to big!!!!
YES,ALL PLUGS CAME OUT NICELY!!
You never gap the fine wire plugs like the Iridium ones, or the fine wire platinum plugs
You are not even supposed to check the gap (the fine wire can bend)
The plugs you pulled out were double platinum
Those are the plugs I would have put back in it (the double platinum Motorcraft ones)
Good luck, have fun
I realized that the second it ran crappy.....my son and I used to have 2 1988Thunderbird Turbo Coupes.....They hated anything except original Motorcraft parts.I guess I forgot that when I thought Iridiums would be better. THEY ARE NOT!!!....Good meme,I'm stealing it!!!!
