Trans swap question
Hi, I have a 1992 f250 5.8 with a e4od trans 2wd and I’m looking for a new trans because the one it have is going out. With that I found a e4od trans on market place but it is was bolted to a 1997 5.0 Ik the bell housing is the same but I’m curious if it will be a plug and play type of swap I’m not really looking for a big project I plan on selling the truck shortly after. Main concern is if the gearing is different and if there will be any wiring issues I will run into.

sorry I meant 1996 but yes the e4od trans on marketplace is bolted to a 5.0 there is supposedly no issues and yes ik the risk but im asking is there is any differences in the years of the e4od trans especially because the 1996 engine is obd2 and my 1992 f250 is obd1

If I remember correctly, (and that is a big "if")
the earlier models had diodes in the trans solenoid body and the later (95 and up??)had diodes in the ECM.
So a late model trans in an early truck running early ECM would have no diodes.
