Anyone leave their dashpad off?

I took off my dashpad and kinda like the way it looks without one. Anyone leave theirs off. Why would I want a dashpad?

Many have. I had over spray and didn't care for the holes. To me it looked unfinished but had I not gotten a nearly free one good one it would still be baren.

My '72 doesn't have one, but not by choice. That's how I got it. Someone along the way also must've covered up the mounting holes for the dash pad, because it's smooth, minus the vents in the center.

I don't mind the look, but do worry about eating it (ie: smacking my face) if I ever get into an accident. I imagine the pad would soften the blow a bit.

My pad was destroyed when I got the truck. I left mine off and it does look really good in my opinion. Granted if you saw the old pad, you'd agree. I personally do prefer it with the dash pad and will eventually get a new one when I feel like it. Looks good enough that I am in no rush to replace it.

Welp, looks like I have a new project this weekend! My dash pad is beyond destroyed and I have been trying to decide to fill the cracks and refinish or just bite the bullet and replace, now I have a possibly better third option. Thanks fellas!

I ripped mine off because I was going make a rat-rad & did not know at the time you can repair cracks fairly easy............and the metal makes it seem more like a TRUCK
I do luv the shiny paint of the dash and colur' both are like new... ...
I now kinda want a dash pad but if it is not top notch .and do not look cheap 3rd party I kinda would like a dash pad............

I don’t have a dash pad, I didn’t like it as there was a dust/junk trap between the pad and the windshield. Does anyone know if there’s made a low profile carpet type of dash pad?

I cut out vent covers from old dash pad, cleaned them up, and painted

It looks good without, but then it reminds me of a slick with different instruments.
