Many have. I had over spray and didn't care for the holes. To me it looked unfinished but had I not gotten a nearly free one good one it would still be baren.
My '72 doesn't have one, but not by choice. That's how I got it. Someone along the way also must've covered up the mounting holes for the dash pad, because it's smooth, minus the vents in the center.
I don't mind the look, but do worry about eating it (ie: smacking my face) if I ever get into an accident. I imagine the pad would soften the blow a bit.
My pad was destroyed when I got the truck. I left mine off and it does look really good in my opinion. Granted if you saw the old pad, you'd agree. I personally do prefer it with the dash pad and will eventually get a new one when I feel like it. Looks good enough that I am in no rush to replace it.
Welp, looks like I have a new project this weekend! My dash pad is beyond destroyed and I have been trying to decide to fill the cracks and refinish or just bite the bullet and replace, now I have a possibly better third option. Thanks fellas!
I ripped mine off because I was going make a rat-rad & did not know at the time you can repair cracks fairly easy............and the metal makes it seem more like a TRUCK

I now kinda want a dash pad but if it is not top notch .and do not look cheap 3rd party I kinda would like a dash pad............
I don’t have a dash pad, I didn’t like it as there was a dust/junk trap between the pad and the windshield. Does anyone know if there’s made a low profile carpet type of dash pad?
