I put low pressure air into breather hole. Fluid leaked out of the crimp on the Speedo cable like c391d said. I went around the crimp and put some rtv sealant. Is that all or should I pack it on there heavy? I just filled the crack and where the crimp was and made it look clean?
What’s the real fix… RTV make fix it, but something isn’t right. New cable… old one never leaked. It leaks right where the cable is crimped to the transmission end fitting. I previously saw a diagram of a speedo cable that mentioned a felt pad and o-ring in side the assembly that seals the drive cable and the outside protective cable. I would think that was all in there with the new cable but apparently not. Ford hasn’t been making them all these years with sealant applied outside. Anyone have that diagram and explanation? May have to try another new cable. The leak drips off cable right over one of the exhaust pipes… hate that smell. Help? Thanks.

if you find a permanent solution, let me know. It still isn’t leaking so I’m good with the RTV as of right now.
