I have a 1997 F250 HD, 4x4, auto, 5.8. In what ways does it differ from other 250 configurations. What parts will interchange with other years/ models and what will not interchange. Thanks
The only reason for the "HD" designation on the 1997 F250 model is to differentiate between it and the 7-lug F250 introduced for the 1997 model year that used the redesigned F150 body.
When looking for parts or at parts stores, tell them yours is a 1996 to avoid getting "light duty" parts.
Once you leave the 7 lug 150 bodies out of the mix
The HD had bigger front 4x4 hubs than the light duty
The GVWR of 8800 is another difference for the HD
Most had rear overload springs as well
