I have a 2016 Explorer XLT, 78k miles roughly. driver door lock appears to need a new actuator. I can lock all of the other doors from the driver side switches. sometimes the lock will act like it wants to move but doesn't complete the process. I have to open that door with the inside handle for it to unlock.
I removed the door panel, and the rod moves freely. when i lock/unlock the doors with the key fob I do not hear the actuator work 9 out of 10 times. So, I may try and tackle the replacement myself. doesn't appear to be overly difficult just frustrating.
anyone else have any experience replacing one of these actuators. Rock Auto looks to have the best price. I noticed some say they include keyfob id card, is this necessary?
