Dealership Pulling My Chain?

I'm currently in the market for a F250. I found a dealer pretty local to me that was advertising on their website with a big pop up 2% under invoice on orders (not Granger, this is a local dealer to me, we'll call it Dealer A). I contacted them and they confirmed the deal pertains to F250 orders. My SO reached out to 2 other local dealers (we'll call them Dealers B & C) where he knows salesmen asking if they could match it and they laughed in his face and said Dealer A was "pulling our chain". Are they just trying to get our sale by saying Dealer A is lying or is Dealer A really possibly making false promises? I know Granger is very well known for this type of deal so I know its possible to do and not totally unheard of but I know they deal in pretty big volumes. Dealer A has a few locations so isn't super small scale whereas B & C each only have one location if that makes a difference. Any thoughts/suggestions are appreciated! I just don't want to order a truck from Dealer A, wait months on end to have it come in and they find a way to jack up the price.

hold-back is about 2-3% under invoice on a lot of various Ford's... thats a generality obviously...

Then there are floor planning incentives.

Then there are the various things in the finance room.

Then I think, no matter what, Ford gives a dealer like $250 for each car sold.

Then there are lots of other hidden things...

So a dealer giving up their hold back isnt un-heard of. The other dealers are still out there trying to charge MSRP+ and when you say "but this dealer, and this dealer, and this dealer" are doing x under invoice they call you the liar...

Until you have a written quote, you don't have a real price. There's a lot of ways for a dealer to mess around here.

I totally understand that part and would definitely get something in writing. What has me concerned is dealerships B & C are saying even with something in writing, dealer A will find a way to jack up the price once the truck comes in…

Did you expect them to send you back to dealer A? I’m confused

Create a Build on the web site and send it to dealer "A" They will enter a preorder and send you the preorder form to sign and verify that it is built the way you want. It should also have Invoice price on it. Have dealer state the 2% under invoice price in writing somewhere. either on the preorder or in an email , Then you should be fine.

Here is the email i received with 4% under invoice price stated
"Order submitted, DORA attached, please confirm it is correct"4% under final invoice plus tax/tags and $449 doc fee
If everything looks good, please sign & return the DORA with a front copy of your driver's license
Please feel free to reach out whenever you would like a status update!
Thank you for the opportunity"

Go with Dealer A. Get it in writing. It's that simple.

Price level 425 shows what the pricing is now. the 415 was the price a year ago, reflect price increases for Ford. Many dealers use priority code 19 for an initial order. They manage the code levels depending on the number of trucks ahead of yours, and what levels are getting built. That was they can keep trucks moving through the process. When I ordered my truck in 22, it started as 19, and then they bumped it up when my order was getting closer to the top of their list. Mine was 8 months from order to delivery in 22, actually pretty good for those times.

Go with Dealer A and get the build sheet summary and sign it, I got 2% under invoice on my 22 when no one local would touch it and had zero pricing issues. I've also heard of some dealers marking down SD trucks, although that must be a regional thing, I don't see that here or any where close to me.

Strangely enough that happened to my wife one time. Not a Ford dealer though.
