Electric problem on 78 f250
Hey team , I recently bought a new interior light switch. When i test the wire up at the light it is hot with the interior switch at the headlight switch on. As soon as i ground to the cab , the wire goes dead. A friend suggested a grounding strap from the frame to the body. I did that and also a grounding strap from the frame to the engine. Still same result. Please help!

Do you mean new headlight switch or door switches?
I'm also confused on how it is hot without being grounded already.
Snap a few pictures .
The interior light housing should ground with a mounting screw.

Hot should come in on the upper right hand side. Under or within the black connector is an insulator the keeps it off the cab metal.
Ground should be the lower left hand screw hole. Try cleaning the screw hole a little and see if you get continuity/voltage.

might be high resistance in fuse box, wire corrosion, mine was doing that and with other electricals as well back in november, I think It was corrected with a ground from engine block to firewall.
