I'm trying to hook up a back-up lite using (one) fog lite.I've got both wires from the light running to my toggle and I spliced in the hot wire from the battery.I've got power on both sides of the toggle, and at the light.Should'nt one be hot, other the grnd? When I hooked the grnd wire to the frame, the lite came on, but would'nt shut off at the toggle.I then un-hooked the grnd off the frame, then the light would'nt work .Whats wrong???I'm using a (2) prong toggle.I'm about to pull my hair out!!

I don’t understand why you have both wires from the light running to the switch. One wire should be always grounded to the frame and the other wire hooks up to the switch. The hot wire hooks up to the other side of the switch. The current flows from the battery into one pin of the switch, out the other pin of the switch (when switched on)and then to the bulb. The return current comes out of the bulb and to the frame back to the battery.
