Angry Had No Idea.

As a veteran I was sent this and I figured that I would pass it along. I'll just type it in as I'm not yet smart enough to be able to paste it in yet:

The Vietnam Vertans Association Posted this.
"We asked our local Target store to be a sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event. We received back a reply from Target management that "Veterans do no meet our area of giving. We only donate to the areas of the arts, social actions, gay and lesbian causes, and education."

My thought: If the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, and veteran in general, do not meeth their criteria, somthing is wrong at Target. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hungreds, but simply sponsorship of an endorsement for a memorial remembrance.
As a follow-up, I E-mailed the corporate headquarters and their respnse was the same.
Personally, I will not be purchasing anything at Targwet Stores again. If the Vietnam Veteran or Veterans in general do not meet their area of giving the why should I, as a veteran, spend my hard earned money in their stores?

TARGET IS FRENCH OWNED! WHAT A SURPRISE1

Target will also not allow the Marines to collect for "Toys for Tots".

When I first read this I was really shocked. I agree that having a free country is the first concern. However I do support the right to spend our money where we see fit. And if this offends somebody the they can K-- M- A--.

I may be deleted but I did figure that more people should know about this.

Thanks for the link, S&S, that kind of shuts up the guy who wrote the original email..

I assume the French Connection comes from the habit of calling Target Tarjay..... Target with a french accent...

It is true that an amazing amount of incorrect statements are emailed around the internet, and most of it is believed by some. This one, like most of them, seems to be false in most of the claims it makes.

I will continue to shop at Target, but then I eat French Cheese too.

This just goes to show that one should always do more research prior to making snap judgements. Thanks to s&s for providing research material to shed light on this subject.

The internet is a wonderful resource that has opened up many avenues for information - unfortunately some avenues for misinformation also.

I would readily support boycotting any retail establishment "proven" not to support our American military (my son proudly serves in the U.S. Air Force) past and present, however, before we condemn, it is imperative to do the research and gather the facts.

Exclamation Thanks Silk.

Just wanted to say thanks for the link. It does clear up most of what was said. However I'll just stick to french toast.
Theo. I'm also retired, USArmy, and had the unfortunate opp to work with the French and thats where I initially aquired my distaste. The lates with the Iraq thing is just icing on the cake.
After all we all have our own thing.
