Howdy everyone. Picked up a nifty billet ccv from RiffRaff Billet CCV Doghouse. It is super nice, much more sophisticated then the stock bit.
my truck always seemed to be seaping oil around the stock ccv. I know you can replace the seals, i wanted to see of there was a better option out there vs dumping it under the truck.
Start by removing the old ccv. Pretty sire everyone's ccv is the same. I know my truck has some peculiar mods.
As you can see, the stock ccv was dripping oil. After a quick wipedown, the valve cover is ready to get the new billet base.
There are viton o rings for the base and under the 2 mounting bolt heads. after the base is securely mounted, there are 3 layers if stainless steel mesh that are separated by a thin spacer ring.
Here comes the tedious part. The lid is held down by a number of tiny stainless screws. Snug then down, checking twoce since some will come loose after others are snugged down.
Tada! Take a moment and admire the fine craftsmanship of RiffRaffs products.
I decided tobreplace my lil hose elbow there too. Whil not an exact replacement, i found this elbow locally and trimmed it down to work.
I have a handful of other nifty RR products to install in the future also.
Yeah, was around 180 ish and then whatever shipping was.
The shipping from RR is really what holds me back on alot of things. They have a great selection if motorcraft and OEM style parts but the shipping starts at like 18 for an oring. And it seems to take longer in transit. RR is great about getting the packages out same or next day, but I always figure a week for it to then show up at my door.
I don't mind the pricing of the parts, I know that custom designing and milling this stuff in the US comes at a cost. I'm 100% in support of that.
Plus he does send stickers and pens along with the packages. I do like a good pen.
I'd like to do a CCV mod back to the intake like the Racor or Provent setup but nothing really looks ideal to me size wise so I've been eyeing one of these Riff Raff doghouse covers.
How do you like it?
Have you noticed a reduction in oil carried over into your intake? Potentially less oil usage?
@Edgethis, is your intake pipe custom or aftermarket ?
It was on the truck when I got it. My engine had all the hypermax bits along with their H2 turbo kit. Not sure if this intake tubing is part of that or not.
That's a beauty just like the rest of Clays products. Should have ordered a spare elbow when you purchased it, he sells those too. I have a few floating around somewhere. At least you were able to find something locally.
Maybe one day when i'm bored I'll get one but the original has been fine for me. I'd love to get the valve covers but that's too much for my budget
