Question What Is It????

The Lever above the shift linkage on the transmission.
I'm currently trying to find the reason my tranny tries to pop out of gear on high revs. This lever could be the answer, i don't know.
Any ideas? What holds the transmission in gear during normal use.
My modulator had been replaced prior to my purchase of this truck.........could it be it was installed wrong. What exactly is it's purpose. Please................these little gremlins are driving me nuts.

Depends. Some have detent ***** to lock. Make sure the linkage is correct. In some cases, if it's out of whack, it can damage the tranny. Ultra critical on the AOD's...Check your motor and tranny mounts. Make sure the engine isn't jumping around when you goose it. The shift linkage is probably ok if it's never been messed with, but something to consider. MK
