So, I decided to try to lift the cab, I finally got the front bolts off, but I had to chase the threads with a dye to get the corrosion off of them. Got to the center bolts, and they weren't coming off, I could get a couple of turns and then they would come to a dead stop. In the end, I raised the flag, and resigned myself to the fact that the motor and tranny were going back in the hard way. Idaho is unique in that they spray a brine solution on the hwy before snowfalls, it does a hell of a job keeping the roads snow free, but it's eaten almost every last bolt on my undercarriage , funny though the frame and underbody look fine for a 25 yr old rig....

Yep, your tax dollars pay to have the state D.O.T. destroy your vehicle.
"Keeping the roads snow free" for idiot drivers comes at what expense? Idaho isn't unique....Montana has been doing it for a long while now too. Gotta keep the out-of-state imports happy and make sure that they can still leave the house at the same time in the winter that they do in summer to get their Starbucks and drive the same speed they're used to on dry roads. "Driving for the conditions" is a hard thing to do I guess.
I pulled my motor without removing the cab at all. I tore the front clip down. I will get pics.
Yea there was a couple of use that told him he could near the start of this thread. But with the Zf6 manual trans you must either drop the trans before you pull motor or lift just the front of the cab up to get the clutch to come out of the input shaft. Automatic trans are different and you don't have to.
