Hey all, I recently obtained a 1992 f150 with a 4.9 i6, 5 speed manual. It drove great until today, when the dash started not working and I noticed that the battery voltage was very low. I thought it was an alternator, and after replacing it doesn't seem to fix or charge the battery. I took it to orileys to see if they could test it, and they said it was a voltage regulator issue. The alternator is new and so the internal regulator I assume is still good, but I could not find the external regulator. Where in the hell is this thing? Could there be anything else causing the issue?

You answered your question. The regulator is in the alternator. I assume you have a 2G alternator so did you replace the connector pigtail when you replaced the alternator? Did you buy the alternator from O’Reilly’s?
You might have burnt up the fuse link wire when your alternator crapped out?
Or a short took out the fuse link and the alternator is still okay?
Check the big wire on the rear of the alternator for voltage
Yes, those alternator connectors melt, replace it
Wiggle the connector with the engine running to see if a bad connection exists
Good luck, have fun
