Thanks all training is on Tuesday and he is setting me up with my free demo then as well. Praying for a Power Stroke but I will end up with a focus. Either way a free vehicle is a free vehicle.
Well the first day is over. It was good, lots to learn thats for sure. I think its going to be good though. I got my first demo vehicle that I will have for 3 months. I was hoping for an F350 Power stroke but nope, then maybe a 5.4L triton V8 Super Crew, but nope, then maybe a Mustang or a Ranger and nope I got a Focus ZX3. Oh Well its a free vehicle can't complain. Anyway any dibs on what my first vehicle sold will be?
Congratulations on your new job candianfordman. After your training, I would go early to the showroom and stay late. It goes without saying, you will learn a great deal about the vehicles you will be selling. Afterall, who wants to purchase any expensive item from someone who knows nothing of which they sell. I think it is important to show the same enthusiasm to your customers for your products that you show here at the forum. It does'nt matter, Focus or F-350, your enthusiasm will be infectious. Remember that customers will be shopping you and your products, so you have to be sharper and smarter, than the Chevy guy down the block. This also goes for the other salespeople within your showroon. The more you know, the more any certain customer will want to deal with you. I think once you sell them, you will find that they will remain with you for years to come. You want to keep your customers once you sell them. You want referrals and repeat business from them. Your best business will come from people who walk in the showroon and ask for YOU personally.
I also think it is just as important to learn as much about your competition(ie Chevy,GMC, all of the imports, etc) as you can. Don't waste time with vehicles that do not compare to those you do not sell. Find the vehicles that directly compete with what you sell so you can be ready with answers to objections with regard to the purchase of a Ford. The Consumers Reports magazine will help you compare apples to apples so to speak. They will supply free staistics for you. Your customers will probably have this information so be ready. Knowledge will impress your prospective buyers. You will gain their confidence through your demonstration of what you know about your products and how they compare to the competition. It is very important not to berate the competition because you may be insulting your customer if they like that product. Always agree with your customer and then show them how the Ford is better.
In summary, be knowledgeable, honest, and hard working, and you will be the successfull salesperson you want to be. Who knows, you may even open your own dealership someday! As for your first sale, I would guess the Focus! Good Luck and keep us informed.
Thanks for the great info I have been staying late and there is so much to learn from the other salespeople, so far great company and great atmosphere.
Well the first week is almost over (one more day) and it has gone great. Today was my first day officially on the lot and it went pretty well I talked to three people in my office so thats good, I got there names and #'s so I will be contacting them in a few days when I find there stuff. Two very interesting things, the Escape and any new or used diesel pickup does not stay on the lot, there gone before they get there. Anyway I will be sure to post my first sale and let everyone know how excited I am.
