Can you change out just the fuel pump part. I am wanting to keep the factory plug on the fuel pump assembly. The fuel pump/sending unit that we have has a bad float and fuel pump. I've tried finding videos on how to do so but I am not having any luck. We can get the bottom part of the white plastic part off but can't get the stainless-steel tubes out of the top part of the plastic.
The hard lines will disconnect from the plastic pump body, there is a screw or 2 that has to be removed first then the lines can be shimmied out by pressing down on the metal collars(red arrow) while pulling up on the lines. You have to work each line a bit at a time to get it apart.
The plastic resovoir will also come apart but it isn't really meant to, you may damage it a bit i the process, but with some patience it can be done.
