351w intake manifold

Looking through my haynes manual i noticed on the v8 diagram that a "seal" is installed over top the manifold gasket set for 351's only. I have a 351w but did not get the "seal: with the gasket kit. My gasket kit does have 4 pieces though and the diagram shows a two piece. Is the "seal" necessary? Is my gasket set sufficient? Thanks in advance.

there are 4 pieces to the gasket set. two long side rail gaskets and the short end rail gaskets. sounds like you have the right kit. they lock together in the corners to prevent slipping when bolting down.

I don't know of any "seal" on that but I do put "seal ER" in the corners where the gaskets meet. Only thing I have seen would be the little round plastic things that go in the bolt holes but those are just to help the side gaskets stay put. ( I thought)

The only seals I can think of are the rubbers that go on each end.
In my experience, I've always thrown them away and used a bead of silicone to seal the ends. The rubber seals tend to spit out when you tighten the intake.
