A buddy took us around in his new Buick enclave. Those cameras were freaking amazing. Come on Ford!
Yeah, GM has some nicer cameras, I admit. What immediately turned me off their screens was when I hooked my phone up and couldn’t expand CarPlay to the entire screen. It had that sidekick area stuck there, which was a waste of space. I had a 2020 Highlander with the 12” screen that did the same thing. It was really annoying. They really want you to use the built in google maps, I’d guess so they can mine your info. Either way, even though I really like the GM cameras, there were other things that didn't seem as nice. This is my first SD/HD truck and I don't have any brand loyalty besides an aversion to Ram... If the cameras are the only issue I have, I suspect I'll have this truck for a long time. There's got to be a solution out there, somewhere.
Anyway… Back to the issue at hand… I went out to install a trailer camera 7-way connector. When I was under the truck, I noticed there was an empty camera cable hanging there… It didn’t have a cover on the end of the plug or anything, so that has me very curious. All of my cameras are working currently, so I don’t know what that’s doing there. I don’t know if it was there before it was worked on or not. I want to pull the cover off the tailgate and check everything out since everything’s been done. I opened it up before bringing it back in, but haven’t had a chance to open it since I got it back yesterday.

I talked to the dealer about getting a cap for this camera connector, but apparently the connector is dead and could be removed. The harness was replaced or something, and somehow that was a remnant of that process. I don't know the details beyond the WO above.
I had a chance to take a look at what they did... It looks like they replaced the camera cable and they didn't pull out the old one from the loom. That's the reason for the dead connector.
I have a 2021 F350 DRW Lariat. All my cameras work perfectly in the morning. As the day progresses and temps go up, I start having issues again. I have tested this several days in a roll and all the same conclusion. Trying to figure out if it's the location of a camera module inside the cab or some other connection where the camera cables are connected above the spare tire.
I have the exact same issue.... when it gets hot during the day the tailgate camera goes completely black. My bed camera is the blue-screen-of-death. WTH is going on here? I need to get the tailgate camera fixed.
unfortunately I'm having to resort to add on cameras to hook up my 5th wheel which has the Reese Gooseneck hitch. Messed with cables over the weekend but didn't resolve anything

I'm going to crack open the tailgate and look for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, anything that may be easy to fix. My guess is that I'm not going to find anything obvious but I have to give it a shot.
My 2021 f350 xlt srw without the 360 cam just a tailgate backup cam, is doing the blue screen with the dealer pop up. Took it in with hopes that the alpha warranty I got with it would cover the issue. Got a call a day or so after I dropped it off saying it’s a wiring issue with the power feed to the camera. They said the wiring isn’t covered and that it will be slightly lunder 1000$ to replace the wire. Is it just me or does this sound ridiculous? I am going to pick it up today with a 250$ diagnostics charge and just gonna go without the cam for now. Are there any cheaper fixes or has anyone discovered why this is happening especially to the tailgate cams?
With the pending recall, it looks like they’ll be directly addressing the issues I had. This came up in another thread and I wanted to push this thread to the surface just in case anyone else was having issues.
I never did get the brightness issue resolved to my satisfaction, but it has been functioning great otherwise. Now that it’s winter, I doubt I would be able to recreate the issue with the brightness.
A little further detail with the camera cable that was replaced. They just zip tied the new cable to the outside of the existing loom and left the old one in the loom. I’m sure it would have been a pain to replace it in the loom, but it does leave the new cable unsheathed and exposed to potential damage. Hopefully the recall just replaces that whole harness and takes care of that small thing.
Once I go in for the recall, I’ll update the thread.
