I also have the back injury stuff amigos... but the true blue Irish/Native American SOB that I am lets Budwieser cure my ails and just deals with it daily. Several auto and bike wrecks have left me fully informed that surgery is the only answer eventually or a bullet... I'll let budweiser make their money till then.... besides the hookers need it just as bad!!! LOL
A budy of mine has been going through the exact same thing as you. He hurt his back and it took him over two years to get his social security. He had some vertabrae fused and that helped with the pain, so fe tried to go back to work and reinjured himself. There is some paper that you have to sign within a given time frame to protect your claim if you try to go back to work, and he didn't know about it, so they denied his claim and is waiting for second two years to finish. He had a house paid off, two corvettes, two Harleys, and $25,00o in cash at home. He sold his corvettes, sold one Harley, sold a fulie motor and sold his house to eat, etc. He has one bike left and lives with his new wife. He has two cervical vertebra fused in his neck, 3 vertebra fused in his lumbar, and they want to fuse a third cervical vetebrae. They used cadaver bone in his neck that never took and now it moves out of place from time to time and causes more problems. He is addicted to oxycontin and has been to rehab for same. Just recently, he had a rizotomy performed and this is the first thing to help. He is waiting to have the other side done. He was also born with a tethered spinal cord which was never diagnosed until after the injury. Now, after the first Rizotomy he can walk upright for the first time in over three years. He has been walking way hunched over wich has further damaged his discs. He just turned 43 years old. He was in the carpenters union and the place he worked for was self insured, so insurance wont pay for surgery because they say it happened on the job, and workers comp wont pay because they say it was a pre-existing condition. His wife left him when the doctors told him he would never work again and would probably be in a wheelchair in five years. He has insurance with his new wife and is finally getting some help like the rizotomy. If he had been a dirt bag living on the system, he would still have his social security, but since he tried to be a man an return to the work force, he is screwed, and if he had been from a family of dirtbags he would have known about signing the paper, but since he is the first in his family to try to collect SS, he is screwed. Good luck on the back, and ask the Dr, about Rizotomy-unsure of spelling, but this is how it is pronounced.
RedmanBob,
Not sure where home is for you, but wife and I go camping in Pokagon state park in Indianna every labor day weekend and attend the Kruise Auction in Auburn Indianna and also go to the Auburn, Duesenburg, Cord museum in Auburn Indianna. Auction starts on Thursday and goes all day, every day until Tuesday night. They have two rotissories and auction 2 cars at a time. They also have a show and shine area for cars that are for sale, but not going across the block. Ever kind of car you could imagine. Carol Shelby usually comes, Jay Leno sends his people ahead and usually comes. Real big block and small block cobras, Lamborghinis, an Enzo two years ago, many Ferraris, masserattis, race cars, celbrity cars, usually a Thumderbolt fairlane or two, shelby mustangs, Boss mustangs, every Corvette ever concieved. The also have a swap meet parts area. I think the complex is something like 110 acres. Good time if you can make it.
Roger

Yep, that's me...on my way to the mall...honest!
My partner-in-grime broke his ankle yesterday.
I'm on call this weekend.
I helped some friends find another Heep, it failed emmissions today. I have 10 working days for the free re-test.
I have some free parts waiting on the other side of town.
The weekend special at pick-yo-shiat is half-price on eveything.
Yeah Carl, I know. You wish you had my problems. Mrs Hypoid had a disc repair around the turn of the century. She hasn't been the same, we don't expect her to be the same. If she behaves her-self she can walk the next day.
Hang in there Bubba!
