I did a 9" disc brake conversion, now my calipers are contacting my rims. Options?
I installed an 1/8" spacer, no luck. Would need 1/2", then maybe. Don't like this option for many reasons.
There's plenty of meat on the caliper in that area and it's not uncommon for guys to make minor grinding modifications to gain the needed clearance. It looks like it's just barely touching. It shouldn't take much massaging to work. It's either that or try different, newer rims.
Well I got it without gringing the caliper. I trimmed the pins a 1/2" then adjusted the e-brake, which moved the caliper inboard. Still contacted but just slightly. Added the 1/8" wheel spacers and it's good. I assume after the pads set or wear a little ill be able to remove the wheel spacers.
My goal is to keep the original steel wheels, that old school ratty look with that little bit of rust.
