When you build your trans cover, it's obviously going to be a couple inches taller. I read on another website that a guy bought carpet for a SuperCab and cut it down to fit his regular cab. He used the extra material to cover the taller tunnel. Just food for thought. Awesome build so far!
Wow quite a project.
Are there headers available for GZ in a pickup?
There are headers available and I am sure they would fit within the frame rails, but at this time I don't see the need for the price. Dealing with underhood temperatures is another thing as well. The primaires on the factory manifolds are surprising large and I don't know this for fact but my guess is they flow very well for the power output I am looking for. I would likely fabricate my own if I did choose to run them or switched to a turbo set up.
I am also trying to make this more a daily driver, so the quieter the better for me. I know this will be a less popular opinion. HAHA.
Very cool truck, and I love that you painted the Godzilla Ford blue. Looks great. I'd be interested in seeing more pictures of how you shortened the frame. I've heard that these frames are hard to shorten because the frames taper out behind the cab. Did you run into that?
Been a while since an update. Last night I got the rear S550 subframe squared and mounted into the frame. Mounts are likely overkill but I wanted to make sure it was bolt in as opposed to welded to the frame to allow removal and also alignment adjustment for thrust angle like the OEM S550 would allow (I can also powdercoat it a different color to stand out from the frame for aesthetics)
Next is to mount the Boyd fuel tank, but that will take some mind skills because I had to use the 67-72 tank since using the S550 susspension.
Did you mount up the 10r80? Ford now had a controller. I am going to use 10r80, would like to know if I should get the spacer plate from coyote f150.
I used the 10R140. This was for 2 different reasons: much stronger internals and I was able to rebuild it with new clutches and installed the updated CDF drum, and also because I am running the Ford Performance control pack for the 7.3L which only uses the 10R140.
I made the massive decision this weekend and decided to commit to making it a short bed!! I did a ton of YouTube "research" but ended up choosing to just do a straight cut for simplicity, then pie cut to pull it forward close to where the frame turns out from factory. I ended up being within 1/16" of square. To make it truly square, I ran a heavy weld bead down the short side which after the weld fully cooled, it pulled the steel into exact square!!
By plating/welding the exterior I can assure you, its stronger than factory. I plan on brunning a cross bar that will double as a driveshaft hoop for more structure as well. Still a work in progress to weld the insde and smooth it all out.
I finally got my brakes in too and mocked up install!! They are huge!

Ford now makes a 10r80 controller. I was more interested to know if you ever mounted the 10r80 to the Godzilla. I think the 10r80 has a 2 bolt starter.
