Oof. That sucks. Used the wrong hpop reservoir gasket I assume? That's generally what causes that. You have the front cover that takes the gasket without the screen. If you use the one with the screen this is the result. Sucks for sure man.
Not being a smartass or trying to stir the pot, but why take the lid off of the reservoir or the entire reservoir? Is it in the instructions? I am honestly curious about this. I've changed/resealed hundreds of pumps on these and never taken the lid off once.

Pretty sure it is recommended in a lot of the instructions you'll find online for removing/installing the hpop. It's pimped as a chance to clean any BS in the reservoir as well as better/easier access to the hpop gear bolt and washer. The sceptic conspiracy theoryist in me questions if it's not an excuse to sell a reservoir gasket set and fuel bowl seal kit, but these days I have to admit I'm pretty jaded and suspect most people of trying to get their hand on my ***(because that's where my wallet is).
