I am in the process of restoring my '78 F-150 ranger explorer. I bought these new seat covers on LMC truck but they did not have a hole cut for the "bracket" (for lack of a better term) that sticks out on the bottom back of the bench. I took the cover and seat to a local upholsterer and after cutting holes in my cover, told me this job was beyond their skill set. I will likely need to purchase a new cover but was hoping someone could tell me how they overcame this issue??
That's the latch catch if I understand what you're asking. I've never seen a seat upholster set of any brand or for anything that had the holes cut out, you have to install it and stretch it before you know where to cut. get whatever set you like and take it a competent shop and you'll be happy with the results.
On my 72 f250, it had a seat that looked to be out of the 90s. I threw it out. Eventually I found a seat out of a 73 f250 at the JY in good condition. I did a foam patch to it on the driver side. I got a new upholstery kit from LMC as well and put it on. Once the seat cover was hog tied on, I just felt the bolt hole and cut a small slit. Just enough to put the bolt through. That was how the orinal seat cover looked to be done. This is the first time I tried this before but it didnt seem too difficult.
