Door handel

I have a 1949 F! does anyone know if LMC part # 49 7206 solves the sagging door handle problem? The video on this looks pretty completed.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi RC,
Yes, that piece will will help with the sagging handle. Be advised that the part is an aftermarket one made overseas and will be very close to original factory tolerance and specification but they aren't perfect.
There are several older threads on here about repairing the factory worn-out original latch assemblies but it is time consuming and requires some welding and fabrication skills.
I have bought the LMC ones before and was satisfied with them.....for the price......compared to what was needed to restore the originals.

It also is not easy to maneuver that new latch into the door, if i recall with the vent assembly and glass in place. But others here might have recent experience on how best to prepare the door for a new latch.

Hope this helps,
Tom

Several times I dissassembled and repaired my door handles/latches. I have varied success but mine finally got so bad I sucked it up and spent the money. The straw the broke the camel's back was when it got to where the driver's side door wouldn't open and the passengers side wouldn't close.

I ordered the ones from Auto Metal Direct;
https://www.autometaldirect.com/body...2-p-19238.html
At that time they were only about $110 each.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same manufacturer for LMC and AMD.
Installation is pretty easy, you don't have to remove door glass. or vent window or anything.

For the most part I'm pretty happy with them. I did notice yesterday that I need to look at the passenger side. Its a little stiff, so that if you work the handle (from either inside or outside) it doesn't return back to a neutral position and the door might not latch. I probably just need to apply a bit of lube. It sure is nice to have doors that close and latch and door handles that don't sag.

I replaced mine a few months ago, I ordered a set from Summit Racing (of all places) & they were also from AMD, I payed $140 ea. Had problems with drivers side, woudn't open from the outside no matter what I did...... ended up sending it back and got a refund, reused the original.
Passenger side works ok but the handle still has a sight sag. Boxs had Taiwan stamped on them.
