Tricks you have learned

I’m curious we all come up with little tricks that help us with our trucks ! It can be anything from a tool you found to make something easier to work on to ways you tune your carb to whatever you think would be helpful to someone some day!

I'll bite, keep the truck in good running condition. I hope it's become common knowledge now, don't buy the cheap parts off the web or from the local auto parts store. Furthermore, I know most of us old guy's know the good name brands from decades ago. Most still sell good parts.

At least when you buy from your local auto parts store, you are supporting local jobs and get a replacement part if needed in a short time. You begin to build a relationship which may help in the future with benefits, you didn't think about now. There seems to be a local connection between the different stores in my area. If one place doesn't have it, they seem to know who does...

I hope the younger/newer guys/gals, see how inclusive I am, learn to ask on the forum before just buying parts, as Karl say's, loading the parts cannon.

I thought it was a parts catapult. Pull! That's a whole lot more Monty Python.

Big, just before posting that, I read one of Karl's recent post where he talked about the canon...

One good tip I've learned, put anti-seize compound on all threads.

I don't doubt that but I like the parts catapult better because it's more of a crap shoot than a canon which I see as more powerful and accurate. I could be misrembering what Karl uses. LOL!

To me, a catapult launches a jet plane off a carrier, nothing random about that... But I was Air Force, (7 years, 9 months and 6 days active duty, Flight line Jet Engine Mech.) so what do I know about catapults, LOL

I also believe Karl is capable of saying anything...LOL

I don't think Karl was thinking of jet launching catapults. More like the midieval version with a crank down beam that flings a projectile. Those steam driven jet launchers never came to my mind from "loading the parts catapult". LOL! I'll have to keep an eye out for the parts canon.

Definitely the medieval version.

Who said a cannon? That's far too rough on the parts when fired. Suppose it is all moot, as the forces imparted at the destination are all similar.

FWIW, none of these options seems to have any advantage over the others as far as being effective repair techniques.
