Welcome to FTE, what transmission do they have? if the 76 has a man, then you just need a bh for the 300, move the engine perches forward and your in.. next step is do you want all the computer stuff, or remove the intake, ditch the electronics and go with a Offy and a holley 390, keep the fi exh manifolds. I It can be done, and I'm a huge fan of the 300.

The offy and 390 carb can run some change.
Yes keep the EFI EXH manifolds as they flow better than the log EXH manifold but you might be able to find a factory log intake manifold and carb to use.
I have that set up on my 81 and think it works great.

I am guessing the 96 uses a manual trans?
You did not say when transmission it is or if you have it?
If you have the 300 & manual trans depending on the model you might look into using both in your F100.
More so if it is the M5OD trans as it is a 5 sp and over drive.
The only thing is it uses a juice clutch so you would have to fit a master cly clutch into the truck.
Now if you have a granny first trans like a T18 or NP435 and need the granny gear like me for pulling my car trailer, then stay with the trans & clutch set up you have.
Oh the motor side of the Zbar manual clutch linkage pivot screws into the block.
Check if the 96 motor is drilled and tapped for this as I hear reporst it may not be.
Also check if you can get this screw in pivot for your year truck with a 300.
I know for the 80 - 83 manual clutch linkage (84 on is juice) 300 six trucks you cant find this pivot that is different than the early ones.

The 300 six uses the same bell housing bolt pattern as any of the small block motors, 300 / 302 / 351W.
You need a flywheel for a 300 as it has 0 balance unlike the v8 motors.
Most 300 flywheels can take a 10" or 11" clutch / pressure plate so before you go getting a clutch kit check the flywheel if it can take both and get the larger size.
You did not say if there is a transmission with the 300 or not and if so what is it?
Being a 96 I dont know if they had the NP435 transmission or not as that would have the bell housing you could use.
I also dont remember if it was said but the 96 / all EFI motors do not have a hole for a fuel pump so you will need to run an electric pump with all the safety stuff too.

From working on both trucks it seems like the transmission bellhousing is the same size I'm not exactly sure what tranny I have in the 76 I will figure it out though I really appreciate all your advice you've been a great help to me thanks

I am guessing it has a granny first gear 4sp or is it a 3sp?

However, the transmission to bell should be the same, with input shaft stickout a variant between SBF and FE, or car vs. truck in some cases.
The '96 could also have the Mazda 5 speed which has in integral bell. A nice upgrade in most cases, but requires fiddling with a hydraulic clutch.
I did post that about the M5OD as it has over drive and if he dose not need a granny first gear for heavy loads that maybe the way to go and only deal with the hydraulic clutch.
