2005 6.0L Crew Cab. Effectively stock.
I am on a road trip and my climate control seems to have stopped working after a stop. My manual shows Fuse 23 as the climate control for Diesel. Changing that fuse did not have any effect.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to where to check for problems.
Just to clarify... the display on the climate control system does not seem to work (at least nothing related to fan speed or settings is showing) and pressing the buttons does not seem to have any impact.
Like Hartwig suggested, turn your headlights on and see if that changes anything. Seems like the “sleep mode” develops issues and turning on the lights turns AC system power back on
Mine was doing it a bunch for a while, then it seems to have corrected itself for a while until next time lol
Thanks for the responses.
I saw some threads that recommend trying that. I tried switching the headlights on and off, and flipping the high beams on/off, but had no success. I also tried jiggling the ignition and cycling power several time - also with no success.
Any other ideas?
Does it matter if vehicle is running when flipping light switches? I tied both, but am willing to give it another shot.
I’ve always done it while the engine was running. I think it has worked with turning the lights on and off quickly, but I’ve also turned the lights on and left them on for a bit.
I guess I should have mentioned this in the original post, but the panel does show Ext Auto and 56 degrees. This never changes.
How many wire harness/connectors go into the back of the unit, 1 or 2? I had it apart about 18 months ago when i bought this truck and put in a head unit, but haven't been in there since. Is it possible that there is some kind of power coming into the unit via one connector that allows some type of lit up display, but another connector that has come apart?
Back home now from my work trip and I am starting to dig into the climate control (EATC) issue more.
Using a multimeter on the input wiring connector going ino the EATC, I found the following:
- the ground appears to be OK (at least I had continuity to ground near fuse panel), Pin 2 of C228a
- that the power in when running appears to have 12V (Pin 22 of C228b)
- that the always on power also appears to have 12V (Pin 11 of C228b)
I am a little concerned that I may have weak batteries (replaced in fall of 2023, so not sure why they would be questionable) or weak alternator output. However, if I can test those tonight and eliminate those as areas of concern, is the next step to get another EATC unit?
Unfortunately it sounds like you have a problem with the actual control unit vs the “awake” power issue, as yours was at least displaying something. And now that you know it’s getting power but not working, wellllll…sounds like a new control unit is the fix. Hope they’re not expensive! 🤞
