My C6 is in. I tried to install a kickdown, but things aren't matching up.
here is what it looks like. I ordered a GSKMOTOR for all Ford C6 cable. It looks right, but the bracket for the center bolt is to small. My 1st try at linkage and kickdown. If anyone has any info, I would appreciate any advice. Do I have the correct cable? Am I missing a bracket? Thanks
Are you using a steering column from a truck that had a C6?
Are you using a Lokar type kickdown cable?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the manual lever is in the transmission 180 degrees out from where it has to be to use a column shift with the solid rod.
You can use the E0TP-CA manual lever, but it must be heated and bent up until it is parallel with the pan rail.
You have to remove the valve body in order to reverse the manual lever.
This is a picture of a C6 with an E0TP-CA manual lever bent to work with a C6 column.
As far as the kickdown a Lokar kit will work fine.
The original factory kickdown levers were only used on F series and big Broncos and are a little hard to find except on e-bay at 4 times what one is worth.
The rods are very specific to the engine and carburetor that was originally used on the engine and any change, even as small as adding a carb spacer will cause one to not work.

Reason: More words
Aftermarket rods are available in stainless steel for many different engine/vehicle combos. These rods are easily tweaked to accommodate subtle changes in carbs/spacers.
Tyvm Crop Duster, this is exactly what I needed. I can see what i need to do now. I replaced the original manual steering column with an automatic column from a 65. I had to make the shifting rod. I used a GSKMOTOR kickdown cable but the mounting hole it to small. I'll get on that and let you know how it turns out 👍

My friend, unless you remove the manual lever from the transmission and rotate it 180 degrees then bend it parallel with the pan rail it ain't going to work. The way you have it now when you put the shift lever in park you will actually be in 1st gear.
Another problem you may have even after you sort that out is a C6 wasn't available in 1965 only the COM so the detents in the column may not line up with the detents in the transmission.
I don't know. I do know if you hook it up the way your manual lever is in that transmission when you put it in Park the transmission will be in 1st gear.
Ty Crop Duster, think I'm on the right track now. The only think I am unsure about is the compatable steering column. I got it but of a 65 butthat doesn't mean anything. The seat I got out of the 65 was actually a seat from a 73. So, if it doesn't work, I nake have to get an aftermarket steering column. Any suggestion on one fir a C6? I think I'm gonna go with a 28" column due to the addition of an aftermarket power steering pump.
I guess my first question would be. Have you or do you have a plan to remove and re-install the manual lever in the transmission in the correct position? Because until it is installed 180 degrees from where it is now it won't make any difference what steering column you use it still won't work.
Get that manual lever reversed and bent up like the pic I posted then try the column you have it may work ok.
I assume you have power steering if so most PS columns are shorter than the manual steer columns. Which PS gear do you have?
Also, your linkage rod between the column and transmission needs to be adjustable.
Yea, I'm going to reverse the shifting arm, make the linkage and see if she shifts correctly then. I already shortened the steering column so I'm hoping it works
If you want to use a manual lever that is correct for a column mounted neutral safety switch PM me, I have a D3TP-CA that I'm never going to use at my age.
Here is an old thread that talks about manual levers. 1965/1966 C4 shift linkage - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (ford-trucks.com)
Here is a picture of a C6 I was rebuilding. As you can see even with the valve body out it is a tight place to try to get a wrench in to remove the 7/8 nut on the manual lever. If you are lucky enough to have a C6 with the screw in modulator the shift detents are in the valve body if it is a push-in type, then the detents are in the trans case, and you will have to fight the spring to get that lever changed.
I'm using the original COM column for a C6. Trans has screw in modulator, and came out of a truck FWIW. I don't remember having to do anything unusual to hook it all up. There are custom rods available but I think most use the Lokar kit.
