Air Filter Restriction Gauge
Stupid question... does the engine have to be running for the restriction gauge to work? Mine is always on the good end of the gauge. Always. I pulled the filter and it was absolutely filthy. Blew it out with compressed air and reinstalled until I get a new filter. But the gauge says it's fine. What's up with that?

The filter can take a lot of dirt before it gets really restrictive. The indicator gradually moves across as the filter clogs up, until it sets the alarm. You can reset it then, but it won’t take long before it indicates full again.

The gauge won't move unless the truck is running. It's supposed to get stuck on the dirty indication when the filter is clogged and then you hit the button to reset it. It's just a simple spring loaded vacuum gauge.
