I am about to do front brakes on my 1999 it is a small/early 99 front rotors. What’s some good pads, I tow 15k on a daily basis. Last time oriely sold me ceramic pads and it’s seemed like it didn’t have the stoping power of what was on it before. Also dust doesn’t really bother me
I ran HAWK LTS for years and was happy with them. A few years ago I installed HAWK SD and am just as happy with them. A lot of people like EBC Yellow Stuff pads though and swear by them. I tried them on another vehicle and they were good, but not for me.
My truck has a GCVW of 18,000 - 20,000 lbs 90% of the time it is on the road and I travel as far west as Seattle WA and AZ to as far east as the Atlantic up and down the coast.
If/when I need new pads, I will likely go with HAWK SD again.
For reference sake I have Stop Tech slotted rotors on the front.
If dust isn't a factor, some really good stopping power can be had from EBC yellow stuff pads. I run a set front and rear and am very satisfied with the stopping power, also now towing 15K. I would recommend putting them on both axles when changing to a different pad, so that one axle does not do more work than the other, bringing the rig to a halt.
My first set of brakes went almost 100K in the factory Motorcraft. Since they lasted that long and as a tow rig, it was a no brainer for me to go get Motorcraft for round two.
I’m having trouble determining if the smaller rotor truck takes a different brake pad on the front than the large rotor late 99. My truck is the smaller rotor early 99 front end parts. It is a 3/99 build date with early front end parts, and a late engine
Rotors are the same other then offset.
you would just need L99 hub assemblies and L99 rotors.
ik last time I did my front brakes they gave me the late rotors and they were bigger diameter… do you think there would be any advantage to going to the late parts

The L99-03 rotors only differ in their offset, same as the hub assemblies. Diameter and thickness of the area that contacts the pads, the pads, and the calipers are all the same.
I moved my e99 over to the l99 rotors and hub assemblies when i bought it and run the L99-03 EBC yellowstuff pads and EBC dimpled/slotted rotors.
