hey yall.. ive had this truck since about the beginning of Novemeber. Ive loved it but the idle is something that has bothered me since i got it. It pulls great and if your into the throttle it has no problem besides a couple hard shifts here and there. but onces its warm it idled really low would lose oil pressure tried to stall all the time. I cleaned the throttle body replaced the air and fuel filter and had to turn the idle up. (Person before me had it all the way screwed out.) After all of that it doesnt idle low anymore but still losses oil pressure at idle compltly and kinda pops in a way. Ive tried eveything i know so hopefully yall know something. It is a 302 with the E40D 4x4. Also has new plugs wires distributer water pump belt radiator.
Loss of oil pressure is concerning. Usually, loss of oil pressure at idle is a sign of a worn-out engine, or maybe just a worn out pump. Put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on it and see what the oil pressure is really doing.
As for the idle problem. Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all your hoses. Check your vacuum canister for holes. Check your pcv valve. Check your EGR valve to ensure it's not stuck open.
I have found it concerning the second I give it gas its fine I've been contemplating putting a mechanical one in but didn't know if I should. and I have replaced a couple hoses and the canister looks fine. I also don't hear a vacuum leak but I will look for another one and clean those valves
