Haven't been on here in ages, but thought I'd consult for someone who has maybe had this issue before. I traded my XL for the father in laws Platty with more miles. Of course I'm going to inherit some isssues.
The symptoms are strange:
Front drivers side window: One touch is extremely finicky, I just reprogrammed one touch so we'll see if it maintains that. It does work however.
Front passsengers window: Zero issues.
Rear drivers side window: completely INOP, no control from door or drivers control. I don't hear relays or motor noise.
Rear passengers side window: control works at the door, albeit the motor sounds like it's straining a bit going up. Unable to control it from drivers control.
I did find some water on my on my passengers floor today. Still trying to isolate where it came from. BCM appears dry however.... but I don't wanna rule it out. Every once in awhile my drivers seat belt is a little wet...not bad. I pulled codes a couple weeks back and there was a BCM code for drivers seat module, which does kinda make sense because the left butt cheek massager is dead. Nothing for window or door modules however.
I want to at least fix the rear windows. I can try and isolate where the water is coming from later. My sunroof doesn't close super tight, still working on that... but it's gonna be dry for a few days. Far as I can tell the drains are working however.
There are no specific fuses from my research for the rear windows. Currently I plan on buying a rear window switch for the left side, and probably a new window switch for the drivers door. Before I do this, I wanted to see if anyone had input?
On trucks with the auto up/down windows the drivers door switch is the "master" and all functions flow through it.
Its actually a fairly common issue on Ford products in general.
This. You can take it apart and clean the contacts many times to make it work again, I’m pretty sure its caused by the design and placement, every time I roll up to a drive thru window in the rain that switch gets flooded with water and I believe this to be the cause.
I agree with the drivers door switch panel. It is an old issue, took apart and cleaned all the contacts on my 2007 F150 and never had another issue and my son did the same on his 2014 F150.
Last time I pulled a power window switch panel apart, I ended up with wayyyy too many pieces and couldn't get it back together right. lol Is this one pretty simple?
I went ahead and ordered a new drivers door switch, wasn't all that bad, 80 bucks on RockAuto. I didn't really have time to be tinkering right now, last time I took apart a window switch it wasn't a pretty result.
Anyways, everything worked perfectly! Thank you to all for the help. Nice to know there's still helpful folks on the interwebs.
edit: left rear still wont work at the door, but it works from the drivers door, so I'll clean that one, nbd. At least they work
Soon after I bought my used 18 Platty, I discovered that the rear drivers side window control would not work, although it worked fine from the drivers switch. When I went to remove it and replace, I noticed that the inner part of switch was oily and discolored, even some oil on the switch itself. So knowing that I was gonna have to buy a new switch anyway, we disassembled it and found that the "oil" had caused the inner contacts to be wet. Dried everything out with a paper towel and reassembled/installed. Voila! Works perfectly now. The culprit.....friggin overzealous application of detailers spray by the selling dealer. Was your Father in law an avid "detailer" by chance?
