Got 1986 F-100, 2 wheel drive with original 4 speed trans and inline 6 cyl--want to go Ford 302 engine--bolt up to trans -- pedal assemble stays like it is-- flywheel teeth and balance-- anything else--
ANY PICTURES finish install---Thanks
The 302 is balanced different. The 300 six has zero weight on it. The 302 could have 28oz or 50oz. It depends on what year the 302 is.
You will need to go to the junkyard and buy frame brackets for the v8. These are not the motor mounts, but the brackets that are bolted and or riveted to the frame.
You will need a new radiator
The 302 you have must have a rear sump to fit. If it's a older 302 it most likely has a front sump. If it's from a mustang or other later car, it may have a dual sump. That will fit but you can't get to the front drain plug. A truck engine will have the proper rear sump oil pan, and dipstick with the main bearing cap support stud.
You will need all the v8 brackets to mount the alternator and power steering pump. Hopefully the wires are long enough from the 300 six wiring harness.
And your 302 will need exhaust manifolds that fit these year trucks, and a new y-pipe to hook up the exhaust.
If you are going to go to the trouble of a V8 swap from a I6, you might as well get a '85 and up 5.0L block which will be 50 oz imbalance and come with the provisions to install a factory roller camshaft. No point in doing all this work and sticking with outdated tech like a flat tappet cam
What's up. If u close to south Carolina, I have a almost complete rebuilt 302 bored over. I sitting beside the aod that was pulled with it.. I'm in process of swapping to a 351w and c6. If interested, somehow let me no..lol
