Transmission

I have an 83 F100 stepside that originally had a 232 V6 with a manual 4speed O/D transmission. Years later I replaced the engine and transmission with a 302 automatic transmission from a Thunderbird. I was wondering if I could go back to the manual transmission and if it would bolt directly up to the 302?

I do believe the 3.8 V6 used the same bellhousing pattern as the 302. This would indicate that the original trans would be a direct swap, aside from the flywheel. You would need a manual trans flywheel for the 302, and there are 2 possibilities depending on year of the engine. 302 is externally balanced, and the balance weights changed around 1980.
I highly doubt the V6 flywheel would work correctly on a 302, but anything is possible.

They type or balance of the flywheel has to be matched with the year engine you have.
