This is a couple things/questions. Did they change the side windows on vehicles to laminate glass and remove safety glass? The reason I ask, and this is main reason for this post, I went to get in my truck today and noticed an about 8” crack in my passenger front window. I can feel the crack from the outside. There are no chips or signs of something hitting the window. Has anyone ever heard of side window breaking for no known reason?
There should be some type of stamp or etching on the glass indicating what type it is. I've heard of stress cracks in glass, more often in windshields I think.
This is an advertisement sheet, but explains what the windows are for the last few years.
There are hundreds of police videos showing LEo's trying to get through front side windows.
Prior to tools like in the white paper below we used coarse hand saws and later battery powered Sawzall's with demolition blades to get through windshields. https://rescue42.com/w p-content/uploads/2019/05/The-Ripper-White-Paper.pdf
Thanks everyone. I am guessing some sort of stress crack. I had one on a 150 but never heard of side glass doing it. Guess I am heading to glass shop to see what this will set me back.
