Hey all,
22 Super Duty F-250 t hat I need to locate the CAN High and Low wires on. Diagram says connector C238 which is a 24 pin connector somewhere behind the kick panel, but I can't readily identify it. Not sure if it's plugged into something (I see a big connector with a bunch of wires plugged into a black box that says "rear parking" something on it, but I don't see a ton that looks like that beyond that one connector.
I'm also wondering if I can just tap into the wires coming off the ODB port for CAN high and CAN low, but I'm unsure if those signals are all the same.
Reading a bit more, it seems that perhaps the ODB port doesn't consistently get CAN data unless a diagnostic tool requests it, so likely that's why I have to find the exact wires off the C238 connector
The “black box” which is part of the obd port is the gateway module for all the CAN buses, it talks and passes through info between all of the buses, this is the best place to find what your looking for. Now the question is which CAN bus are you looking for as there is around 6 different ones, what are you trying to instal?
So according to the diagram below, I'm looking for the CAN High and CAN Low (they get cut off in my screenshot, but they go to the right side). I've seen the gateway module behind my 12" screen (PITA to access, but doable), but I was hoping to tap into those wires under the kick panel. Thanks for all the help!
And regarding what I'm installing, my truck does already have remote start, but this is the Digital Guard Dawg aftermarket push button start. I have a Lariat and miss that feature terribly.
The gateway module has the obd2 port molded to it, the part behind your 12” screen would be the APIM, it looks like you need to tap into the HS1-CAN network which would be at the gateway module pins 7 and 20
@muisejt Thank you! I was looking at my 2022 wiring diagram that Ford published and it shows 238 being much higher, so I wasn't looking down that low, I'll go check later as I definitely don't want to have to remove that damn 12" screen again (was told originally for Fortin to plug into the Gateway module, but guess what, they changed the harness for 2022 so it doesn't work!).
Where did this diagram come from if you don't mind me asking?
