Yeah, the tool loss has sucked a lot. But it could've been worse & I've used it as a an opportunity to get some better ones, like the fancy pants bearing puller that showed up finally.
So bet y'alls can guess what this weekends chore is gonna be......
Appreciate the cam suggestion, as well.
Anyone able to give me the part number for the wretched front driveshaft CV ball joint thingy. I've put it off, but it needs doing.
I was thinking about just taking the front shaft of of the Bronco for the nows, but strangely, it doesnt have the double joint & I don't think it'd clear the trans crossmember of the truck with the lift. Least not without a bit of pipe & some creative welding.
New cab lights.
I hope to pi up some more death wheels friday & finish up the floors and rear-end over the long weekend. Course a long weekend for me is two days off instead of just one, so who knows if ill get it done.
You are making headway for sure. Are you still interested in the rear D60 with the locker and the spare front D44? I think I have a front bumper for you also.
I am, but I am also still waiting on the wife to find another job. So if you've go someone interested in them with cash in hand now, I completely understand.
The bumper is I've got is good. Just keep getting preoccupied with other bits instead of getting it back on.
I'll look in the gun safe to see if I've anything I'd part with for some extra cash.
I have had those axles for quite a while, you are the 1st person I have priced them to. They are fine where they are at and if and when ever you want or need and or can work it out to get them, they will be right there. No hurries or worries and if I do have a opportunity to sale them, you still have 1st option.
The fancy pants bearing puller is flipping awesome. Three bearings pulled in maybe 5 minutes.
Headers made an appearance finally. Fenderwell exit. Wasn't expecting these for another couple of weeks, so I've not yet begun to soak the manifold bolts. This is gonna suck.
Managed to fall into a good trade today. A replacement for my clapped out front driveshaft. Some assembly required.
Now I'm gonna mow the yard, so I can concentrate on the truck tomorrow.
Are those inside the frame rail exit? If so I feel for you already. If they are fenderwell exit...here you go. Read both threads to catch all the info.
Oh yea I remember the same PITA with some inside the frame exit headers on a 1979 4wd F150 NEVER AGAIN! I did that write up when I did my swap out. And then remembered some stuff and updated the thread.
It is Bob the Pumpkin Bronco! Currently only kinda sorta runs. The ring gear on the flex plate is massively trashed & only works if I hand the engine over to just right place. I've got a new flex plate sitting in the seat, but have been to lazy to put it in yet, plus he needs floors. They're rotted badly. I've had that rig longer than I've had kids & the first one of those turned 20 last week.
I've a perverse desire for many years to shorten a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame & do a swap or gather the highboy specific suspension parts & get creative. A highboy Bronco would be awesome in my mind.

The rear-end is back together now and seems to be happy now. Went for a run around some & it did great. Now I'm curious if the transmission gears are or not. I was figuring he'd be kinda gutless with 37's and 3.54 gears, but definitely not gutless.
This bearing was an absolute pain in the butt.
Run out.
I got all artistic & stuff.
Fixed the rear wiring harness and 1 working tail / brake / indicator light.
