I have a 2011 F250 SD 6.2 gas with 160k on it. As far as I know there has never been a transmission flush or fluid change on it. I know how to do the job but since I don’t think it’s ever been done I have a few questions.
Should I pull the grill off and drain the trans cooler as well? I’m planning to.
A fully drained system is 17 qts?
Any preference on filter brand?
was thinking of going Royal Purple instead of the Motorcraft VF. Thoughts?
I serviced my trans on my 13’ 6.2L after noticing a small leak developing around the pan. I dropped the pan replaced the gasket as well as a new filter, gave it a good cleaning and cleaned the magnet while it was open. After it was completely drained and cleaned up and re torqued to spec, as per manual using mercon lv initial fill is 8qts, run it, cycle through all the gears and hold on each of 30ish seconds. After take readings, then at operational temp, add as needed without exceeding the dipstick level as mercon lv expands. I’d recommend using what Ford recommended.also forgot to say, I went to my local dealer, gasket and filter were less than 100$ however the gasket was the last one in my area instock. I think it says you can clean the gasket and re use it but since mine had been leaking I swapped it.

'Quick question : is this a fluid filter or is it a screen? Thanx.
