Hi, I have a 1994 F250 7.3L diesel. I don't drive it much since I started working from home. So it sits for a few weeks without starting it up. The truck was dead with some clicking noise, so I thought maybe the starter relay so I changed that out, easy enough. Still nothing, but I was able to charge it with a charger. Drove it to get two new batteries, installed, started right up. Let it sit 4 days and went to start it and it was dead, dead, nothing, not even clicking. So I put the charger on it and it charged up fine, then started it, drive it around, The next day it was dead again. So I charged it again, let it sit in my driveway running for an hour or so. Next morning I put the charger on it before attempting to start, and it showed only 26% charged. I charged it up again, drove around for 30 minutes. Came back, after 2 ours charge was down to 80%.

What could be draining my battery???
it could be many things but at that speed of discharge, I would first be checking the alternator. I say this because mine was so worn out that the contacts or whatever were touching when the truck was off so it would just sit there and turn all that battery juice into wasted heat. It’s worth a shot anyway. You can test by charging to 100%, removing the alternator cable, preferably from the battery side (or relay I forget) so you don’t have a hot lead sitting there, and see how your battery charge behaves. Beyond that do you have any aftermarket accessories installed? Does the truck actually turn off when you leave or is it on acc1 or 2?
Thanks for reply. Brought it to a shop this morning. Tired of messing with it, will let the board know what develops. I was thinking Alternator too, which would be easy enough, but again, can't waste anymore time. Mowing season soon upon us here and need truck to haul around tractor.
