Yep... I get it. I want the 50 gallon Titan Tanks fuel tank but if I were in your shoes, I'd get the Gen 2.1 DPK to protect the CP4 that eventually would be fed by the 60 gallon tank... protect the HPFP first IMO when the budget allows.
I honestly can't find any information anymore on what the gen1 kit looked like and I can't remember. Not sure if it's easily or cheaply upgradable to be as effective as a gen 2 kit. If it were me, I'd probably reach out to S&S and see what they say. If it came down to it, I'd rather put $400 toward a DCR than another DPK.

Just found this on S&S's website here... This has to be it. And yet another imitated version here as well...
And Swag Performance's "version..."
$400 and you install it, more money to go towards that bigger tank with install. Then drive the truck knowing you're protected with the Gen 2.1 kit if the CP4 blows. I hope it's years before I have to buy and install, if I can, the DCR pump. Just my thought...
Thanks for the member berries. With the gen1 kit there wasn't a dedicated supply/return for the fuel to the bottom of the CP4. The user cut the supply line and installed that braided hose onto it which fed to the block that attempted to isolate the bottom of the pump from the top. But the design was flawed here: dpk gen1 flaw
If the return gets plugged with glitter, it's a short path for glitter to still find it's way to the top end and out to the injectors.
Gen 2 solved this by making sure that fuel to the FVCV can only come from the underhood filter. The line is tee'd near the filter, so in theory glitter could still back flow from the cp4 supply line but due to the distance and return filter to keep the system clean, the odds are reduced to basically 0. dpk gen 2 diagram
